  • Animal Voices, Carol Glasser episode

I invite anyone interested in animal rights or social activism in general to listen to the 11/2/2010 episode of the Animal Voices podcast. Their guest is Carol Glasser, a PhD candidate in sociology, who is looking at the efficacy of militant activism in the cause of animal rights; she’s interested in how much and what kind of media attention it brings, how many animal lives are actually saved, and other aspects of strong interest to all of us. Her research has implications for other kinds of activism as well, including feminism and racial equality.

I heard it via iTunes, but their website will do streaming, as well.

    1. For anyone planning a wedding… this is simply stunning.

    2. I want this kitchen so badly my heart hurts.
(though my kitchen has traditionally been very Japanese with shoji screens and red/black/white details)

    3. Bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms… this site has it all (and all gorgeous!).

    4. Another selection of rooms in REB and Tiffany blue.

    5. I have just discovered this blog, which might become my new obsession: House of Turquoise.

    6. I had no idea there was an “ice blue” limited edition DS Lite. WANT. There’s also a common turquoise DSi; it’s about the same color, but a little darker.

    Tomb of Caligula found?

Posted by Dindrane on January 18, 2011 in Uncategorized with Comments closed |

Italian cops claim to have found the tomb of Caligula. One remembers the supposed finding of Alexander I’s tomb and tries not to get too excited, still…

(My favorite bit is the quote, “Caligula was described by contemporaries as insane…”)
